Vaccinations and Worming

Puppies and dogs

Your puppy can start its vaccinations at eight weeks of age. This is then followed 2 weeks later by a second vaccine. A year later you will receive a card in the post reminding you that your dog is due a booster.

We will supply you with a wormer on your first visit and your pup should be wormed every four weeks for the first six months and then every three months. You will also get reminder cards for wormers from us.

Dogs are vaccinated against the following:

• Distemper
• Infectious canine hepatitis
• Adenovirus
• Parvovirus
• Parainfluenza
• Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae
• Leptospira canicola

 

Kittens and cats

Vaccinating your kitten should be done at nine weeks of age followed by a second vaccination at twelve weeks of age.

Please ask Mr. Irving which vaccine may be suitable for your cat.

Cats are usually vaccinated against:

• Feline viral rhinotracheitis
• Feline calcivirus
• Feline panleucopaenia

However we strongly advise that you also vaccinate your cats against Feline Leukaemia Virus. Feline Leukaemia is a virus that can be passed from cat to cat through bites and it has a very high mortality rate.

Kittens need to be wormed at the first vaccination injection and then monthly until they are six months of age. You will then receive a reminder from us every three months for worming.
